Fiona Moes Pel was born and raised in the Fraser Valley, British Columbia where she grew up making things with her hands.
Her practice swings on a pendulum; its pivot point anchored in echoes of contemporary spirituality and expanding notions of ritual as they relate to embodiment and process. Her gaze is drawn to materials as they perform a relationship to light, as they refract, magnify, filter, capture, blur, cast into and alter a space.
Fiona is currently working on her Master of Fine Arts at Emily Carr University. Fiona has a Bachelor of Fine Arts (University of the Fraser Valley) and a Bachelor of Education (Simon Fraser University). She lives with her husband in Vancouver, BC and teaches art to high school students. Her work has been exhibited and collected both locally and abroad.
